General comments: Great lake, facilities, the fish are all in spectacular nick and the commonms really do pull!! The Sturgeon are much more fun than Cats and think new visitors will enjoy the opportunity to tangle with these line-stipping-tail-walking machnines. No English spoken by owner but top bloke. Was given very useful info by regular Belgian angler - even brought round a bottle of fizz on our last night. Hey, don't forget to put your order in with the Boullangerie lady for your fresh daily delivered bread & pasties, bloody lovely!!

Brief details of your catches: 51 carp which included a 31lb common, a 30lb 4oz common and 12 twenties with the rest of the fish averaging around 18lb, and a 40lb 8oz sturgeon. Every fish in immaculate condition.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I initially introduced around 30 spods of hemp, topped up with around 200 boilies with the use of a boilie rocket, the aim being to keeping the bait tight to my selected baited area. The boilies were made up of equal amounts of 20 mil Rahja Spice shelf life and 20 mil Liver B8 shelf life boilies. I then used my throwing stick and catapult to put out a further 50 or so boilies, which I spread out around the swim. The 2 inner rods were cast onto or very close to the baited area and the outer 2 rods wide of the bait. I have used this tactic frequently on many French lakes, producing some excellent results. After every run I would top up with a further 5 to 8 spods of hemp and add additional boilies to the swim.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes, the facilities were as described and were excellent and clean. Remember to take your own cooking utensils and there will be no problems.

Were you happy with them? Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes, every time

General comments: This can only be classed as a very active and good runs water which should produce excellent results even to some of the less experienced carp anglers. The only challenge is applying the bait to your baited area, as boats are not allowed on the water. This is a maturing gravel pit that has only been fished by the local French and Belgian carp anglers and to date has had no major pressures on the lake. Every fish that you hook gives an impressive account of itself and over the next few seasons this water will be on a parr with some of the bigger carp waters that are available to the angling lines customers. For a full update of my weeks fishing have a look at the article on this web site.

Brief details of your catches: Caught carp consistently throughout the week to 29lb 3 oz. Average size was about 18 pound. Included in the catch were two sturgeon, a brown sturgeon of 26 pound 10 oz and a diamond backed sturgeon of 61 pound plus.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Arrived on Saturday morning and had a good look around. Some of the swims were quiet damp due to the in the incredible amount of rain in this part of France during the previous few months. Hence, I chose swim 2 which was dry and comfortable.I had a good search around the swim with the marker float and decided to fish around 70 yards out in 18 feet of water.I cast two marker floats out and baited between them with about 3 pounds of hemp and pellets using the spod and fired around 200 rahja boiles onto the baited area. All four rods were fished in the baited area. Lost a fish Saturday night as I forgot to switch the buzzer on (must have been more tired than I thought).Sunday daytime I had a screamer that turned out to be a personal best brown sturgeon of 26lb 10 ounce.I topped up the swim with a similar amount of hemp, pellets and boilies. Fish came consistently throughout the week. After every fish I topped the swim up with a similar amount of bait. The largest carp I caught was just over 29 pounds, but the highlight for me was a massive diamond backed sturgeon of over 61 pounds. The fight this fish put up was absolutely incredible; it took me well over 30 minutes to subdue the beast on my 12 pound hooklink. What a magnificent fish, I will remember it for the rest of my life and made a good holiday great.

Were the facilities what you expected? Facilities were very clean and much better than expected. If you fish this venue you will need to take your own cutlery and cooking utensiles.

Were you happy with them? Very happy

General comments: There are plenty of fish in this venue and the ones we caught were in immaculate condition. Normal UK tackle and tactics are all that is required as you will not need to cast long distances. I would be surprised if anyone blanks as it is a runs water, the fish fight extremely hard. Cast out, reel them in and enloy.
