Details: Swim Work Done

After the big amount of rains we received last winter, the pegs were a little bit flooded by a couple of inches of water. It wasn't confortable except if you use boots. Like I promised to each customers,we have raised each pegs with soil by 1 foot.

Well done too to the young Nathan for catching his Personal best mirror at 30lb.

The pegs at Old Oaks are still wet after all the spring rains so please bring waterproof boots with you.

Details: Pineapple Anti-Poisson Boilies

Hi David,

I think I have got a very good story for the pineapple baits.

Mr Price team fishing in Old Oaks this week.
He comes to see me the second day because he caught 3 poissons chats and had many liners with his fusion baits.

I sell him 2 bags of the 5kg pineapple crush and he had 3 carp ( 20lb, 27lb, 27lb ) in the same day !!! And during all the week , he never had another probleme with chats and even no liners and the baits still perfectly 20mm in the morning !

He tried a double bottom baits with a fusion and a pineapple crush. When he reeled the pineapple still intact but the fusion was already eaten !

One of the Old Oaks guys had a fantastic commom new pb at 35lb.

Details: Old Oaks news !

Firstly, we wish a happy new year 2007 to every anglers and especially good health.

Many thanks to all our customers who spent time with us in 2006, respected our rules and made for such a good atmosphere at the venue. We had many repeat bookings, with many regulars; this is the best proof you can offer to us, that we are on the right track.

The 2006 season has been an excellent fishing year with several pb’s broken and many happy anglers.

Some spectacular catches have been recorded: for example, Mr Daniel Laughton-Zimmerman party in april caught 65 carp! Mostly good twenties including 6 x 29lber plus 15 thirties to 36lb 8oz with a total average of 27lb+ !

The following week, Mr Farnell party managed 36 carp including 11 thirties and 2 first lake record mirror at 38lb and common at 36lb 8oz !

Mr Pichon in may had 19 carp including 9 thirties !

Mr Bolderson party in september caught 66 carp and smashed all theirs Pb’s !

Mr Dyer son and father managed 21 carp including 14 thirties to 36lb!

Mr Peel and his friend caught 37 fish with 10 thirties to 34lb 8oz etc.....

The most amazing week was with Mr Bowler party who totallised a record of 96 carp between 3 anglers ! Well done to everybody !

Hopefully, you will be the first to hook one of the big catfish or maybe the 40lber grass carp !
Although the lake record mirror stands at 38lb there are now a total of 4 different forties up to 42lb & 37lb for the common. A bigger common (a deep bodied around 40lber) is also swimming but still avoiding the capture.

There are also some good pike, roach, tench, rudd, perch and black bass (4lb 3oz last year)
You can use a fourth light rod for coarse fishing.

Old Oaks is a runs/action water. The fishing is easy and very comfortable with platform swims, short fishing distance, and young fish. The facilities are top class and brand new.

A bed of boilies with hemp and partiblend will attract carp. However, don’t forget to bring mesh net, plastic baits like plastic pop-up's, sweet corn and rock hard boilies to avoid the poisson chats which can be a problem (mostly during the hottest months of the season). Bring big unhooking mats and a good antisceptic like medi carp too.

Baitboats :

We would like to point out that baitboats are always allowed in Old Oaks. They are very usefull to bring your baits under the overhanging trees...
Due to reliability problems, we have sold our 2 Lakestar baitboats but we are building 2 new baitboats for the coming season. They will be available from Mid March.

Winter improvements :

During the winter, we have worked hard to improve the fishery. We had promised during 2006, some improvement and we are at the moment working on these. We have brought in more earth to some pegs to avoid the rain damage problem and cut down some of the old and dead trees. We will also plant some new trees

New fish stocks:

During the first week of January, we received some new fish for Old Oaks. We have carefully selected each fish...young, fast growing, different shapes and scales patterns.

We have also stocked 4 new big mirrors: a superb heavily scaled carp of 37lb; another long 37lb’er and 2 forties at 40lb and 42lb (lake record!) So now, anglers will have runs and runs and the chance catch a lump!

We hope all these details will improve the comfort of your holiday and will satisfy you.

Details: Fun at Old Oaks, November 2006

Shaun Harrison took time out from his session on Laroussi to spend a few hours with the owner, Mehdi Daho, on his other venue, Old Oaks.

The pair had frantic action for mid November catching 9 carp in only five hours. On two occasions they had simultaneous takes…. At one point they had one fish on the bank while both anglers were playing carp also… absolutely frantic action. The fish fell to Quest Crab Plus and Rajha Spice.

Details: New complex record !!!!

What a week !!! From the 29th July to 5th August, The Old Oaks and Laroussi fishing has been awesome. The weather conditions were much better with cooler temperatures, a lot of grey cloud, strong winds and rain. Perfect to switch on the fish!

Mr Martin's party was fishing Laroussi: they had the record number of fish caught in a week - 53. Topped by a 56lb mirror (Pb for Brian). Brian had also his Pb grass carp at 31lb 8oz and sturgeon at 57lb 8oz. They had also 2 x forties at 45lb 2oz and 42lb (Pb for Steve), 19 x thirties to 39lb, 8 x twenties and 15 x doubles. Nick had a new lake record grass carp at 43lb 12oz and his personnal best mirror at 34lb. 7 big sturgeon have been caught to 60lb+

The other very good news is all the fish are spawned out. They will pile on weight about 5 or 6lb for the winter so the 7 high thirties will top the 40lb barrier very soon....

Well done mates!

During the same time, Mr Bowler's party also broke another record on Old Oaks! The previous record fish number of fish caught in a week was 65 by Mr Daniel Laughton-Zimmerman in April. They had fast and furious action and hauled 96 fish including; 4 x thirties and an amazing 74 x twenties! Again, all the fish are spawned out so we can think 28 of the good twenties will top the 30lb barrier very soon.

So (96+53).... 149 fish caught in a week between Laroussi and Old Oaks making it a new complex record !

Total weight for Old Oaks: 2,249lb - average 23lb+

Total weight for Laroussi: 1,564lb, average 33lb+

Total weight for the complex : 3,813lb+

Details: New unhooking mats for Old Oaks and Laroussi

Fish care is very important for us here at Old Oaks. So we have bought an excellent quality mat for every swim on the lakes. The big difference between these mats and the standard mats is the boat shape... it is like a mini-paddling pool. Measuring 1.28m length by 70cm wide makes a very safe environment for the handling of the fish. So now you can save space in your car and feel confident when handling the fish on the bank. Don’t forget to wet the mats well before use.

Details: Old Oaks Facilities.............

Since last summer 2005, we have spent months and months to build a perfect new venue. Our only target was to make an ideal and comfortable fishery for carp anglers. Each detail has been thought through to improve the quality of the holidays.

The lake is totally trees lined with poplars, willows and Old Oaks making fresh shadow for the hotter months of the summer. This 36 years old gravel pit was dug at the same time as Laroussi.

The first thing was to clean around the lake, the brambles, grass, the branches, the dead trees and underwater snags, because it was totally wild and natural.

Then we have made new fences to keep it private and secluded.

There are 5 swims from one side of the lake so there are no problem between anglers. One is a natural point and 4 news pegs; there is enough room for bivvies and all the carp fishing gear. A gravel track from the gate to the lake and a car park are also very usefull for the comfort of the holiday.

There is a picnic area in front of the facilities which include a barbecue and a wooden picnic table .

We have built excellent facilities for Old Oaks : Inside the chalet you will find : washing facilities including a sink and a high tap to fill up your bottle of drinking water, a work surface with a lot of English plugs for the batteries, baitboats, mobile phone etc......, a hot shower, a wash basin in exotic wood and marbel, an English style toilet, 2 brand new very big Lieberr fridge for your food and freezer for your bait and a outside plug for your electric barbecue.

We hire “Lakestar de Luxe” baitboats and sell PVA bags , boilies, pellets and partiblend on site. We hope all our efforts and details will make an excellent holidays for you and your party.

Details: Latest fish stock for Old Oaks

I have received the latest fish stock for Old Oaks - 16 mirror and 2 commons . They are all in mint condition with superb winter colours. Here's the list:

Mirrors : 3 x 22lb , 3 x 24lb 4oz , 8 x 26lb 8oz , 2 x 30lb and 2 x 31lb.

Commons: 22lb and 26lb 8oz.

So in total there are now 92 carp from 22lb to 40lb+ … without counting the lovely unknown resident fish! Most of the fish now are 30lb +. 16 big grass carp from 22lb to 40lb+ and 2 catfish to 44lb

I will stock maybe one or 2 more big catfish soon. We hope this excellent stock will make a lot of happy anglers!

Details: 15 big grass carp

2 Hours ago we have received another stock fish for the Old Oaks. 15 big grass carp : from 22lb to 40lb ! It is very difficult to make a photo with this fish ! because they are so powerfull.... and long. Perfect hard fighters ! Most of them is from 30lb to 35lb. The biggest is 1.15m for 40lb exactly I added some photos. Plus the other 30lb specimen last monday, now there are 16 different grass carp from 22lb to 40lb in the Old oaks. Best regards Mehdi

Details: We have received the second stock of carp today.

We have selected young, fast growth rate, various body shape carp. So the list is : 54 carp : 27 thirties, including 8 different 33lb and one common at 30lb, 27 carp from 24lb to 30lb, 2 forties, 1 grass carp at 30lb and 2 catfish at 44lb and 33lb. This last fish is very rare and very beautifull.... green and yellow. So now there are more thirties than twenties in the lake! 2/3 of the total stock are thirties! I have attached the pictures. Next stock fish will be big grass carp!

Details: New carp stock added today

Just to let you know the first new carp stock added today. I was invited by the well known fishfarmer Bigot to select each fish to his lakes. So I have selected 20 young and top quality carp of different shapes : deep body, long and strong, linear, heavily scaled, round common......So there are a good mixed shape carp in Old Oaks. The average weight is 30lb !!! with a superb golden common ! I added photos. Further carp stock will come soon ..... with some monsters !
