Long Session at Ribiere

This excellent venue has had a rather unusual resident carp angler over the last few months and his catches really have gone to show what the lake is capable of.

Laurent Amarge from the Paris region, has been on contract work near Limoges for most of the summer 2003 and has elected to spend his nights in a bivvy fishing the Ribière.  Fishing from peg 1 initially and then onto peg 19 he has had some outstanding catches. He has kept very accurate records of his visit which breaks down like this:

  • Fishing only late evenings, weekends and nights from the 4th August to 23rd September
    he landed 93 carp from 116 runs.
  • The total weight was 2,215lbs (which gives an average of nearly 24lb per carp).
  • The largest carp landed weighed in at 41lb.  
  • He landed a couple of 20lb grassies and a 30lb catfish too.
  • The majority of his fish came to our Mainline Fruitella baits. Pop-ups proved more effective than bottom baits, with 54 of his runs from a buoyant hookbait.
