General comments: Shower &d toilets are basic but ok. Food is brilliant, good size breakfast, large tea. Lake is not 12 acres, but will be next spring as dug channel through to level water on last day. Mouth damage on fish is apparent but this is a runs water. Pellets and boilies are available on site at a good price.

Brief details of your catches: The first two days we had nothing at all. We started working for the fish and the weather settled so we eventually had 4 x 40's biggest 43.08 and 6 x 30's to 38lb Along with 15 between 20 and 29lbs. Two grass carp 25lbs and 27lbs.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Nearly all fish caught on double Maize and fished over parti blend. Standard hair rigs, with barbless Naylors and Raptors. Carp mainly from under the trees in the margins all around the lake.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes, nice & clean.

General comments: Really liked the place, food was good and will book again next year. Just wished Christophe spoke more English! but we always got there in the end!

General comments: Fishing in a foot and a half of water and the cutting down of the trees has ruined the small lake and catching 10 and 12 pound carp in a specimen lake took the piss a bit as i didnt a pay to fish for small fish as the angling lines brochure said there was carp between 15 and 20 pound upwards probably wont use them again not un less some one else was paying for my holiday they need to look how christophe actually runs this venue and the true stock in the lakes and the large lake is not 12acres so false advertising if you ask me !!!!!!!!!! NOTE FROM ANGLING LINES: Water Levels: Towards the end of Summer 2005 the water level dropped low on both the Large & Small Lakes. This was experienced on many, many lakes in France - record low rainfall levels were responsible. This did make the banks steeper than normal & did result in the Large Lake having to close for 10 days in August. This situation was not the fault of the owner and everyone affected was either found an alternative venue or given their money back. It did not affect the quality of the fishing - the feedback reports after August, which you can read on this page, are testament to this. The Large Lake closed because the owner was worried about low oxygen levels affecting the safety of the fish. Several fish did die (and we really do only mean several! )- so he took action. The lake re-opened after 10 days & the fishing remained excellent until the end of the year. It was not affected at all. After the winter rains the water level is back to normal in 2006. Size of fish: Feedback on this page will show that the average size of the fish is definitely not doubles - it is much higher - there have been many excellent catches of large fish throughout 2005. Large Lake Size: The size of the Large Lake has been a justifiable concern of anglers throughout 2005. Both we & the owner recognised it was spoiling an otherwise excellent venue... so he has dug out the back of the Large Lake, increasing its size by 2 acres for 2006. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Best tactics were pop ups with a snow man rig, casting out just off a bar 40 to 50 yards out. Home made baits did the trick along with spodding out pellet..

General comments: Water level was very low so banks seemed quite high. We complained during the week as french anglers fishing next to us had lines all over the place, but this was sorted. Had a really good time and will go back.

General comments: The lake is not 12 acres (8 acres max).No swims marked out, very little water in lake. 1-2ft banks are very steep. Owner allowed French anglers onto the lake, combined with English 3 day anglers, good swims all taken. I expected to at least have a better choice. Problems with people casting over lines, mainly French anglers. Overall opinion, disappointed with number of anglers and conditions of banks and depth of water.

Brief details of your catches: Terrible fishing weather. Very hot bright sunny days. Clear full moon nights. Little wind all week but we still caught 520lb.Mirror - 17-2, 32-8, 30-14, 28-4, 24-6, 37-4, 27-14, 31-6, 24-6, 22lb 16-14, 21-4, 25-2, 28-11, 21-8, 33-14, 22lb.Common - 19-4, 4lb, 25-4. 3 fish were lost one was a cat.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Due to the thousands of 3-6inch bream small pellets and hemp were a big mistake. the bream just wittled down the hook baits. Best tactics were singles plus double hook baits pva bags boilies fished to gravel areas in more than two feet of water. only two fish were caught of tree line margin.

Were the facilities what you expected? cant comment on the food/ took my own others ok.

Were you happy with them? No.The owner i can only say was rude! he seemed put out when he saw we'd brought our own food and beer and we didn't see his face all week to see if we were ok.

General comments: the lake is only really big enough for three and tight for four. the plateau which took up most of the middle of the lake was only two feet deep which seemed devoid of carp. the lake was really coloured you couldn't see 8inches down by your feet which meant that spotting fish was only possible if they jumped.The steep banks would have been a problem but we had a dry week so we are very lucky. the only disappointment was the owner he showed no intreset in the fishing.

Brief details of your catches: Two thirties, biggest 34lb, endless high twenties. We all blanked first day, after that non-stop action; 250 carp banked and fifteen sturgeon, many more lost.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Large halibut pellets with pva bags of small mixed pellets. Maple 8 boilies also good. Spicy meat best for sturgeon. Cast to bars in middle.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Bottom baits, maple 8 and fusion, long hook lengths with small hooks.

Were the facilities what you expected? Worse but the food was brilliant.

Were you happy with them? O.K, swims not easily accessable, particularly when wet, unfortunatly most of the week.

General comments: Supposed to be English speaking, very hard to communicate. The owner never walked around the lake to check or advise, this was not good as we we had trouble with the other two on the lake.

Brief details of your catches: 16 Carp, very hard worked for under difficult conditions.The large lake next door closed down due to low water levels, so we were getting worried as you can imagine in case the same happened on the small lake.Fortunately no fish were seen to be in trouble, but they were very reluctant to feed.For Four days the only fish seen and caught were in a tight area directly in front of the inflow stream,which is where Phil was fishing across from.By Wednesday morning with stronger winds and rain Carp were beginning to show further up the lake and began to feed in front of me about halfway down the lake.Steve had to move swims Three times to catch, which he did on the last day.Phil - 9 Mirrors,2 doubles,4 Twenties, Thirties at 31lb and 34lb and a monstrous fish of 47lb 12oz.Steve - 19lb common and mirrors of 23 and 29lb.Andy - commons of 24 and 27,mirrors of 21 and 35lb 12oz.A lot of varying weather fronts didnt help, but being Yorkshire Carpers we are used to struggling!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Light baiting, building up to moderate by the end of the week.Phil did well on hookbaits only by the outflow.Steve caught his Two best fish stalking with the float in the neglected bottom corner.Myself, tigers and fusion on the rougher areas in the centre of the lake, slack lines or back leads.

General comments: Bit of confusion over the showers.We were trying to work out how we were going to wash ourselves with the hosepipe by the wooden toilet hut as it appeared the shower in the adjacent hut was knackered.A kind soul from Kent then showed us the new Shower block by the bar area! The swims are very high from the water, and are plain dangerous when wet.A mixture of rain, grass and clay at a trecherous angle are very exciting at Two in the morning whilst playing a fish. And hats off to Bridget for sorting out new venues for the lads on the big lake when it closed, if my wife looked like her I'd give up fishing.

General comments: The swims could do with improving as some turned muddy when it rained. Water rodents annoying taking your bait on a regular basis, however fishing was good and food was of good standard and plenty of it too. A good venue for first time in France with a good chane of a 30. NOTE FROM ANGLING LINES: The rodent problem has been tackled with extensive trapping & poisoning. Unfortunately spilled bait & rodents go together on a carp venue - but the owner has sorted this out now & we anticipate no further problems.

Brief details of your catches: Approx 800 pounds of fish between two of us! Average fish was 28 pounds.We were on Peg 1. Fished straight out 50 yards and one rod in right side margins. This one caught loads.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Maple Activ-8 boilies with PVA stocking. Nothing else worked! Forget humping in loads of boilies and particles, the above works great.

General comments: Pi**ed down rain for a week! Fishing was great, food was outstanding and Cristophe was very friendly and helpful. Downside? Rats are present which will eat everything!Also most of the carp we caught had mouth damage. I suggest Cristophe do occasional checks for barbed hooks.

Brief details of your catches: We had over 1000lb of carp. 2 x 30's, 40 x 20's and loads between 14lb and 20lb. Most fish had very badly damaged mouths. We fished pegs 7 & 8.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Put in loads of particles, hemp, wheat, maize, groats with NRG fished over the top. PVA bags worked well.

Were the facilities what you expected? Worse.

Were you happy with them? No. Very basic toilet in a shed and shower was very poor. Could do with another shower.

General comments: Rained most of the week, but fish did not stop feeding. Barbless hooks doing most of the damage to the fish in my opinion. Christophe and family were very friendly. Great food and drink. Lake too small for 13 anglers, 10 would be better.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Maple8, Tigernut and Squid/Octopus boilies.Over carpet of particles/pellets/groundbait. Inliner and ESP Lead Clip rigs. Sturgeon caught on bottom with SPAM.

General comments: Definitely needs another shower especially if the enlargement of the lake goes ahead for next year. Pegs 7,8,9,10 could do with platforms inserting as the banks are extremely high. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Mainline Maple8 worked really well. We fished swims 9+10 and hit the plateau about 80 yards out, very slow at first due to high temperatures, increased the spodding using plenty of particles and freebie boilies. Rain came on Tuesday and transformed the lake, superb fishing from then in.

General comments: The lake is very prolific with a good head of large fish. The facilities were excellent and the food was even better. All of the fish seemed in good condition and fought really well. My advice is to book ASAP, you won't be disappointed. See ya next year.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Tiger nuts accounted for 90% of the fish, fishing to the far tree line using a bait boat. In total we got through around 200kg of particle, these are hungry fish.

General comments: The lake is in serious need of some TLC, the swims are deadly when it's wet which is a real shame as it fishes well. Don't buy beer onsite it's a rip off!!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Bait boat full of hinder's a-mix with large mazie and hemp mixed and left to dry in the sun. Then balled up and sent out with a few 24mm freebies.sometimes the bait was only in the water 2 mins and it was off!!!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Maple 8's boated out to middle with pellets, almost instant runs, other tactics very slow.

General comments: Great fishing for 1st timers to France (must have bait boat). Little bit worried about some carp, we caught 3 with other hooks and line hanging out of their mouths, one 20lb we hand lined in. Ideal lake to take youngsters, my 15 year old loved it.

General comments: Although we caught the spawning,we still had plenty of fish. Without doubt the best swim of the week was swim 1 (Liverpool’s luck was definitely in that week ” a Joe”).Not alot of action during the night, but you need the rest following the efforts of the day.

Brief details of your catches: 31lb mirror, 25lb common, 24lb mirror, 22lb common, 4 @18lb, 4 mid doubles. Others caught by my party included 30lb 8oz mirror, 28lb mirror, and numerous mid twenties. A few sturgeon.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Everything that I caught was on tiger nuts. 2 sturgeon also came out on tigers. Most fish caught from margins. Catch rate fell to almost nothing on hot day, may be due to spawning being close, but fished well in the rain and wind.

General comments: Venue was of fairly poor quality. 6 of us were squeezed into swims 10 - 12. Not good. Lake should not be advertised to hold 13 anglers. 10 would be more like it. I know that the lake is to be extended, but i fear that it will still be crowded unless sensible limits are applied. Once you get used to the lake the fishing is good, so on the whole we enjoyed the trip, catching some pb's made it worthwhile. I doubt that we would go back to the large lake, but would think about fishing small lake.

Brief details of your catches: 40lb+ x 1, 30lb+ x 2, 20lb+ x 10, doubles x 7 and 3 sturgeon all over 20lb. Best fish of the week was a huge mirror at 48lb to my brother Ian (possible lake record). 3 of us broke our pb's and all came away at the end of the week very happy with our catches.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Virtually all the fish came from just a few feet out under the tree's on the far bank. A Bait Boat is ideal for placing baits here as I had to retrieve my rigs from the tree's on several occasions, but it's not essential. Continually baiting the same spot produced the most catches. We used mainly Active-Maple8, but caught on most things we tried, including Source and the Angling Lines Specials purchased from the shop. A blend of pallet, hemp, corn and a few boilies did well.

General comments: This was our first trip to france and we all had a great time. We will be using Angling Lines to book our next trip as everything went as smoothly as we could have hoped for. We will be back to Roseau in a few years when the big mirror has hopefully gone 50lb+.

Brief details of your catches: 90 Carp made up of two at 34lb & 32lb. Over 50 x 20's with lots being over 25lb to 29lb, and the rest mostly high doubles. 14 Sturgeon to 22lbs.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fished the far bank. Vast majority of the fish caught on Maple 8's, with one and a half 14mm baits scoring very well. Spodded hemp, partiblend, and trout pellet bought on site from Christophe, with a small pva bag of pellet over the top. Most of the Sturgeon came to Pepperami. Method well worth a try as it accounted for the two biggest fish. Take time to find the features, and you will find fish. Margins very quiet unless you want sturgeon.
