Brief details of your catches: I had 16 carp all mirror bar one,the fish ranged from 23lb to 34lb,missed a few runs,lost 3 fish.Had 6 fish thursday when it rained most of the day(best day) when hot and sunny fish seemed to shy off,if i would have had a bait boat would have caught more tight to the trees.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: started fishing nights on sat,sun,mon,tues,then days only rest of week catches improved during day,fed swims twice a day,last thing at night,chopped boiles on hair simple hair rig nothing fancy,used fruity trifle mainly and also rhaja spice,fed pellets,particles and chopped boilies,also small pva sticks.

General comments: the venue was great my partner and daughter loved it there,the supermarket was only 5 mins away,theres a market in evron on thursdays which is interesting.There was no need to hurry having the lake to youself and im sure i would have caught a lot more if i really tried,but its a holiday.David and chris were great hosts even running erands for you if anything was needed.Fantastic.

Brief details of your catches: 14 Carp from 19lb to 34lb. All mirrors apart from one common and our dog, he couldn't resist the pellets!! Caught day and night over 5 days.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Hook bait was not important, more about the presentation, the shorter the hook link the better. Bait boat was a massive advantage.

General comments: David and Chris were very friendly and helpful. The BBQ at the lake is fantastic. We had a wonderful week and will be back.

Brief details of your catches: We caught 19 fish between us during the week. The average size of the fish was 28lb but we had 6 x 30's with the biggest being 34lb 3oz. We both got new PB's. :)

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We fished two grains of maize with a piece of yellow rig foam in between them. We added just enough foam to critically balance the maize. We fished this over a bed of hemp, pigeon mix and maize.

General comments: The lake is stunning and very very peaceful. The owners are very helpful and will do anything to make your stay an enjoyable one. The fish fed both day and night so it was nice to catch a few in the day. The fish are in great condition and give a great fight.

Brief details of your catches: 25 carp over 5½ days, weighing from 20lb to 39lb. Average 29lb+.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: All fish were caught on a knotless knot rig of around 4-6 inches with the use of a curved shrink tubing coming off the shank of the hook & silicone tubing on the shank to help the hooking potential. The bait used was a mixture of boilies & crushed boilies & particles loose feed with the use of a butterfly boilie on the hair.

General comments: From our initial meeting with the owners, David & Chris, the atmosphere was very relaxed & easy to accept. David was very helpful & supportive in all respects, ie from where might be good to fish to where the supermarkets were & when open. He visited most days which was very reassuring & attentive but not in your face. The fishing proved to be excellent with advice from David combined with careful set up baiting tactics. The location & setting was very tranquil & as a fishing venue will be hard to better.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Getting right under the overhanging trees and bushes! Definitely need a bait boat here. All fish were caught on Tiger Nut boilies (mostly 1 whole one teamed with a cut down one), tipped with a trimmed down Fluro Tutti Frutti pop-up to give a balanced presentation over the silt bottom. These fished over carp pellets and cut up boilies.

Were the facilities what you expected? Lake - better; cabin not quite so much

General comments: Lake and grounds superb; David's BBQ amazing! When we got the technique right, the fishing was excellent with lovely fish in good condition (several PB's for both anglers!). David and Chris were excellent hosts and David went out of his way to ensure we caught fish and you can ask for no more than that. The surrounding area was quiet and unspoilt even in August; a very enjoyable stay and great fish to boast about!

General comments: The owners David and Chris made us really welcome and we very much enjoyed their hospitality throughout the week. Despite the fact that the fishing was very difficult due to ever changing weather conditions, we really enjoyed a peaceful week at this beautiful water.

Brief details of your catches: 6 fish caught. 1 x 31lbs mirror, 2 x 30lbs mirror , 1 x 24lbs mirror, 1 x 22lbs common, 1x 3lbs pike caught on a boilie as it was brought in. .All anglers caught with all having PBs3 fish lost at the net and numerous runs lost due to fish going into the snags.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Various boilies single and double 15mm and 22mm from the Quest range - rahja spice, special crab and tiger nut.... plus white choc pop up caught over Quest mixed pellet mixed with hemp and pigeon conditioner bought from a bait supplier with added garlic, chilli flakes etc cooked at the venue. Very short 4" hook links.

General comments: This lake is absolutely stunning and is maintained to the highest standard . The fishing was very hard this week with the weather changing often during the day. A bait boat is highly recommended due to the fish being under the tree canopies. The fridge could be bigger for 4 anglers as it only holds a days worth of food.The owner David does allow you to use his fridge and freezer at his house which is a very very short drive away. Overall we all enjoyed our stay and would return again in the future.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: All fish except one were caught in the margins. We tried various baits inc Quest Raja Spice, Special Crab And Fruity Triffle. The Fruity Triffle was bar far the most productive catching nearly all the fish.

General comments: We all had a great weeks holiday in excellent surroundings and the good company of David and Chris. We worked pretty hard at the fishing which was not easy, and the 30s eluded us but... We know seemed there had been a lot of bait entering the water in the previous weeks which may have made it more difficult for us!

Brief details of your catches: 22 mirror Carp from 21 lb 12oz to a new PB of 34 lb 12oz. 11 of the carp were 30lb plus with 3 over 34lbThe other fish were all in the high twenties.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: It was very wet and warm the first few days and all the fish came between midnight and 0600hrs. This pleased the Claire (wife) who is a dab hand with the net and not a bad fisherperson herself. At night I fished at the bottom off the shelf with either a snowman rig or two bottom baits (Mainline Fusion) over pellet, hemp and broken bolies. During the days very tight to the margins next to the over hanging trees.

General comments: this holiday was booked at the last minute. the staff at Angling |lines could not have been more helpful. Dave and Chris are very welcoming and Chris cooks a great roast dinner. They advised us on places to visit in the area and sorted our wine problem out for us as we could'nt find one we liked.

General comments: Very pleased, a very pleasant and relaxing holiday with top quality fishing. If its your first time in France Sauvelliere is the place to go. The facilities are outstanding from the chalet to the BBQ area. The hosts were also very helpful and will make your stay at the lake memorable. Carp fishing in luxury and also a fishermans paradise.

General comments: Absolutely picturesque place with friendly owners. The lake is a dream and the fish not difficult to catch when the conditions are right. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope for a return visit in the not too distant future. If you only half fancy a week at Sauvelliere, don't hesitate; you've got to be almost impossible to please if you end up not happy with it.

General comments: Conditions were incredibly changeable. Four inches of rain in 24hours, a hailstorm, very hot sunshine. You name it we had it! We fished only daylight hours or we would have caught more but this was a holiday to relax as well as fish. Even had we blanked we would still have enjoyed fishing this beautiful lake with its stunning views and varied wildlife. David and Chris were very considerate hosts and it was a pleasure meeting them as Arne Swartzeanegar would put it I'll be back!

General comments: It was a pleasure to revisit this picturesque fishing venue and see at first hand the improvements made during the closed season by David. These included a magnificent BBQ and a very efficient woodburning stove within the accommodation which was absolutely essential given the cold nights! One thing is for sure David never does anything by half and this is typical of his commitment to the lake and all visiting anglers. With water temperature at around 6centigrade I knew that the fishing was going to prove challenging. To this end I chose to fish using Frank Warwicks winter method mix and used 4-6inch fluorocarbon hook links, size 8 korda longshank hooks with snowman presentation of critically balanced proactive pineapple dumb bells topped with white milky toffee popups. This proved to be a lethal setup and secured 16 takes with 14 carp on the bank fishing 7 days and 3 nights. The catch ranged from 3 over 30lbs heaviest 34.04lbs 8 over 25lbs and the other 3 over 20lbs(though ret assured there are bigger fish in this lake worth targetting). The whole experience was that much better due to the warm welcome from both Chris and David, plus the overwhelming tranquility of this location which is ideal for those wishing to escape the rigours and stress of work. I very much expect that the lake will produce a 40+specimen in 2008 and the only disappointment was that it did not come to me!
