General comments: Actual Date: 17th-24th January 2010. I would recommend sailing from Portsmouth (the extra ferry price of £150 is better than the long drive and extra fuel and toll charge). Once we arrived at Vaux we really started to relax. The whole venue is perfect. Chas and Josie have really tried to make your stay a great one and succeeded. We will be back in the summer. Thanks to all at Angling Lines and a big thanks to Chas and Josie

General comments: Many thanks to Chas and Jo. We had a wonderful Holiday. 3 PB's far exceeded expectations. A word of caution to Anglers thinking, as we did, Vaux would be a 'runs' water. This is not the case. More a 'specialist' lake for Crafty Carpers.

General comments: Fishing was hard to start with, but after chatting with Chas we found the hotspots and the big fish started to grace the bank. The lake is well kept and clean and the gite is handy.

General comments:  This is my third trip to Vaux and every time I have visited I have beaten my PB, the lake (although Chas calls it a pond) is a good size well looked after and the swims are kept very clean also all the fish you catch are in perfect condition. The Gite is also clean and tidy and is just the icing on the cake if you want a break from the fishing (who would) you can go and make yourself a cup of tea to give you time plan your next course of action. Don’t ignore Chas’s advice because he knows his lake and his fish and the edge that it will give you could be the fish of your holiday. I look at my trips to Vaux as catching good fish enjoying the atmosphere the french countryside also learning something to bring back to England to improve my own fishing. So if you have read my feedback and still can’t decide where to go then I have one thing to say what more could you possibly want from a venue, Vaux ticks all the boxes go and see you will love it. PS a big thank you to Josie and Chas see you next year.

General comments: Our trip was smooth from start to finish; travelled with Clearview Transport (Roy) which allowed us to relax and plan our tactics. On arrival the facilities were far better than we expected and with Chas's help and knowledge we all managed to beat our PBs! General comments: Very nice venue, Chas very helpful, whatever you need, ask. Be prepared to bring a good amount of bait or buy on arrival from Chas, which is very, very reasonable with no sales push at all. Great facilities and accommodation, easy access to local shop, bakery and garage. Chas tidies and cleans around the lake daily, so that even in wet weather you are fishing in clean, non-muddy surroundings. Baitboat is a must to be able to fish close into banks where fishing seems to be best. We will be back. None of our group are professionals, just fish for pleasure, but 2 out of 3 of us have got personal bests

General comments: From the start of searching on the internet, your website stood out from all the others - looks professional, well laid out and easy to follow, understand and having the added bonus of offering exclusive lakes. Your help and advice over the phone is invaluable, also the fact that you know your products and can give a personal view to a novice "French carper". We throughly enjoyed our first time fishing, very relaxed on our hols and with the run up to it, because you make all the arrangements taking the pressure off us(ie. travel). Definitely got the French carp holiday bug and will no doubt use you again as first port of call. Also the brochure, dvd and constant updated website of the venues is ideal.

Were you happy with them? Being wheelchair disabled, a few improvements would make it ideal for an independent person with a disability

General comments: The fishing was very grim, but the hospitality excellent. The fishery is very well kept and pretty and peaceful. To make it ideal for a wheelchair user, a few minor alterations could easily be made, ie: front step (ramp), a raised toilet seat, the bed could be raised by 6" and the roadway improved (ruts filled in). From a fishing point of view, it was great to be able to fish all the swims and do a bit of stalking. Most fisheries, the disabled swims, as they are called, are too high from the water making landing and lifting the fish difficult, no problem here at all. Though disabled, I like to be as independent as possible, the alterations suggested would enable me and other disabled anglers to be so. An ideal would be a shower that could be used from a wheelchair (wet room) and the sink repositioned. It would not be difficult if the washing machine was relocated. If the weather was wet and cold, a shower would be a necessity

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Although we followed the advice given by chas, more than 60% of fish caught were on 1oz. leads & bottom baits especialy at the shallow end where 16 fish were all caught using this method.The two biggest fish are featured at least 7 times in gite photo`s. & have added little weight in 5 years.

General comments: Gite & Lake superb,Chas & Josie very pleasent people, however the following notes intended to be constructive. Chas was at the lake for 3 hours every day, & 5 hours on Friday. Whatever the weather chas would sweep up tree debris, every day around us,the full length of the lake. He would also net out floating leaves from the lake irrispective of any baits positioned in that spot. When asked not to, replied "its ok I do this all the time the fish are used to it & they dont spook" All very intrusive.

General comments: What a wonderfull place to spend a holiday.So relaxing with wonderfull hostand great accommadation right on the banks of a lovely tranquil lake.The only improvement could have been the fishing which I found quite difficult.There were 3 possible reasons for the lack of fish. Firstly the constantly changing weather,secondly my lack of ability, but the most likely reason is that my bait boat broke down on the first morning. Chas was great, not only explaining how to fish his lake, but helping me position my baits with his own bait boat, nothing was too much trouble. I learn't so much from him that will stand me in good stead when I go back to France in a few months.All I can add is to say thanks to Chas and Josie for a wonderfull time and my wife sends her love to Buddy the dog, who she fell in love with.

General comments: 2nd visit to this excellent venue and enjoyed our time as much on this occassion as did the first time round. The accommodation is second to none and combined with good fishing and great hosts you couldnt ask for anything else. The fishing is not easy and we found we had to keep changing our approach and bait to keep the carp coming but Chaz is always willing to help if you want him to. The average weight of the carp has jumped up this year and we had 6 carp at 29lb.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Pop ups to far bank (tight) or to bottom shallows, heavy particles to bring on the feeding fish. Fluoros best. All caught daytime bar 2. Mix between common and mirror

General comments: Nice house, Chas and Josie vry helpful. Chas very helpful to kids with tips and advice. Would not hesitate to come back, but would bring a baitboat for ease as fish are very tight to banks. Walk your baits to dam wall. Lovely time, Lovely venue, Lovely people. We'll be back

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Spodded area particle and boilies (Activ8 Icelandic Red) FAKE maggot over maggot and particle put out by baitboat, FAKE corn over spodded area. Caught off the dam wall and in the shallows. Spodded area was in the middle swim spodding over to the far bank

General comments: Chas made us very welcome from the start, making us coffee on arrival, walking us around the lake talking tactics and bait. Gave us lots of advice, always happy to chat. Josie was very pleasant and friendly. Can't wait till September when we will be returning

Brief details of your catches: 14 fish in total ranging from 17lb to 34lb7oz. 2 x 30s (34lb7oz and 32lb). Plenty of mid to upper twenties

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: The fish fell mainly to either Nash Strawberry or Active Maple Eight, but fake corn caught the 34lb7oz mirror. Fish came mainly from the shallow end of the lake or the dam wall end, but not much in between

General comments: Two of my party havn't been to France before, my son and my best mate. They both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and both had a thirty. I myself managed 2 x 20s, but the lads stole the show with 12 carp between them. All in all, 'Happy Days'. Chas was very helpful to my son and to my mate and they will both take a lot of knowledge from this trip. I am sure that this won't be the last time they come to Vaux. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: tight lines to far bank as always with this venue.. only one carp came from open water and that was the biggest of this session ..34lb 7oz mirror caught by my son ashley on fake corn . most of the other carp fell to maple 8 or nash strawberry boilie
